Wizards Speak Out! (But Not Obnoxiously, Please)

Hello Wizards of the universe (spiral to be more specific). As many of you know, I have my hand in quite a few community related locations throughout the spiral (and beyond). Well, I did up until college...and over Thanksgiving Break I kinda started to get a bit more involved again. Piggle Rallying, completing CL for the first time, etc. Yes, yes, I'm all legendary and stuff now. [INSERT EVIL GRIN HERE] Really though, I'm seeing some issues in the community I was once so active in.

The issue I'm talking about is one of language. Yes, language. No, I do not mean the language barrier between English speaking players and Foreign language speaking players. The language in-game (in the spiral [ITS]) and also outside of the game (in the greater Wizard City area where the vast majority of wizards' islands spend their time floating around so that we all have places to stay when we're not off combating evil and where we can continue to keep in touch with friends from the game [AKA Twitter, Wizard101 ConnectX, Facebook *though I don't have one for wizards...*, blogs, Wizard101 Central, etc.] has been rapidly declining. ITS at least, KingsIsle has language filters in place (that some naughty wizards circumvent for their own purposes...) but Twitter has nothing of this nature to protect its younger users from the foul mouths of some older players. This needs to stop; and it will stop if wizards will just start using their heads. It is well understood that the Wizard101 Twitter Feeds are meant to be safe for players of all ages to view.

Would you ever run into battle without a deck equipped? What about a wand? These are vital pieces of a wizard's battle kit and completely necessary for survival. All of that is nothing without thinking about which cards to play. Yes, I said THINKING. I am aware that many of you enter the spiral to decompress after a long day (I know I do quite often) but the thinking is still there. It might be semi-automatic now, but you still carefully consider which cards to play when and in what order. Trap stacking specifically requires much thought. Why isn't this much thought being put into things that small children read?

Basically, we need to think before we tweet (yes mom, I know it's supposed to be think before you speak but I'm modifying here...) Older twizards (wizards that use twitter) should not have to be consciously monitoring what is being said to ding people on saying inappropriate things. Even phonetic spellings of words not meant for young ears should ever be sent out.

So, I'm being a bit rambly today but it's something that just really irks me. We should be protecting the the minds of the future generations so that they don't end up as twisted as they might if we keep up the language. Please everyone, let's put on our filters before we speak, or there will be people there to call you on it.

Psstt...*Whisper Whisper*:The Rumor Mill

John Lifeglen here to talk today about rumors. I'm taking a few minutes between lunch and next class (because my time is incredibly limited these days :/) to say hi and discuss an issue that I see growing in our fare game. I'm sure we've all heard things similar to this:

(Note, this is a hypothetical conversation, not one that actually took place)

--------------------
Person A: Pssttt......Hey did you hear about the [insert epic items here]??

Person B: Um, no...what does [item] do?

Person A: Well, it looks REALLY COOL and it happens to do [insert string of stats].

Person B: COOL, where can I get one, and can I see it?

Person A: Well...I think it's rare, I may be the only person that has one.

Person B: Please tell me, but let me see!

Person A: You get it as a drop from [insert obnoxiously tedious boss].
--------------------

What you have just witnessed is a very meanspirited prank pulled by players all over the internet. Usually, the item doesn't exist and is only advertised to make players waste their time hunting for something fake. Recently, the Triton pet rumor began. A lot of players were really excited at this prospect. This rumor has been shut down by the lovely Professor Greyrose. In the past, rumors of a Kraken, Ice Kraken, and Fire Kraken were all started by an unknown entity on Wizard101 Central. These rumors have never been confirmed, and follow a similar format: "My friend told me in whisper he got [pet] on a drop, but he isnt online and it hasn't hatched yet. He said he got it [boss]." The player who posted this was told a dirty rotten lie and was the victim in this scenario, and his reputation could have been hurt because of what his friend told him. His so-called friend wasn't playing very nice.

The rumor mill in games isn't quite as big of an issue with people getting hurt in games, at least not on the pets/loot topic. However, starting rumors can hurt credibility and cause mistrust. Also, rumors about other people can hurt friendships, feelings, and have extreme consequences.

Long story short, rumors are bad. Let's try to confirm our facts before telling even one person about them. Asking a person to confirm the truth in it and telling someone that something is true are not the same thing, and asking questions is always a plus. Ask questions about rumors, don't just pass them off as fact until it is known for certain.

Student Teacher?!?

So, uh...most of you probably knew this before I did, as I wasn't aware that I was on the ballot. Apparently, I was nominated (and elected) Balance Student Teacher. I guess this means that I now need to try and magically expand the day into 30 hours. I'll do my best to get a guide up and mod and this and that and everything else that comes with it, but it'll take some time. Thank you to all who voted for me and who have stuck with this weary sorcerer through it all. I'll try and meet with the other student teachers to see if we can't throw something together in the ways of a party soon. No promises, as I'm sure everyone has busy schedules. I guess this also means I should be working to legendary a bit faster...oh my what a work load I have just accumulated. It'll be a fun ride, and I can't wait to work with you all!

Stayin' Alive

Hey gang! John here again with a few more updates.

First off, sorry about the extended absence; homework, work, and free time (+SLEEP) don't come easily in college. This being said, I haven't yet worked on Celestia.

Main purpose of this post: I have added a Ravenwood Radio countdown as a minor contribution to the community since I cannot be around to give tips or help people myself. It is located in the right column at the top, along with the Bloggers' Club party one. (We have something in the works right now coming soon...sort of. Give it some time!!)

So, that being said, the black countdown leads to Ravenwood Radio. Feel free to use the "Get Widget" button and repost it, I will be keeping it updated as best I can and much like Hermione's Magic Galleons or He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's tattoos, my master countdown will update everyone else's! (In theory...still working out the kinks.)

And now I'm off to math.

Time Management

Hello Wizards! John Lifeglen here (at last) with some news. Not good or bad, just news. I am still trying to be active, but my class schedule is awful and doesnt allow me much play time. It doesn't allow for much time for anything, really. Even this post comes speedily written as I need to get back to reading Descartes Meditations. It's old, and a bit dull...but I have to read it.

On another note, don't expect any Test Realm spoilers from me, I haven't bought any crowns lately enough to play there, and I don't plan to get more until CL hits the live game. Especially not on a college student's budget.

I'm still playing active chairperson for the Bloggers' Club of course, and if any of you enterprising members want to get out and have a party, let me know so I can hook you up with the proper endorsements, etc. I'll change the timer for you, write something up, maybe even put it on ConnectX for you. Just e-mail me through the link above /\ LOOK UP /\ with your Wizard's name, proposed date/time, and theme, and then I'll take care of port bus locations. We have hit a dry spot recently and we should really be working to do something as a community!

And with that, Descartes calls. And math, and public speaking *drowns in piles of paperwork*.

Fanfic Feature :D

Hello Wizards of the Spiral! John Lifeglen here with news!!! YAY NEWS!!! College is going great, my legs hurt like no body's business but class is good and interesting. After having 2 days of classes I think it's going to be a fantastic year. But this isn't the news you came here for...

First off, Ravenwood Radio has been so kind as to feature ME along with two other fantastic sorcerers in Balance Study Hall, which will record live tomorrow night!!! :D Drop in for some excellent advice from my fellow sorcerers and I, along with some humor as always ;). This still isn't the news that my intro is talking about though.

The news is this: A couple of people enjoyed my fanfic the first time I wrote it CLICK ME, and I wrote it again. \/ Post Below This One! \/ Now I have compiled all of my fanfic *and hopefully much more to come* into one page, located at the top of my blog. Maybe I'll eventually start writing on slightly more interesting topics, but for now fanfic will be kept for advice and reactions. Enjoy!

Etiquette 101

Hello, fellow wizards of the spiral! I wanted to take this time to tell you all that I arrived at school, managed to move in, and I am doing great. Classes start tomorrow and I write this post for a couple of reasons. The first is to tell you that I'm here still, and no official hiatus is in order yet. That is yet to be determined, though many fine bloggers out there are taking some minor breaks. :(

The second thing I'd like to talk about it what the /\ Title /\ suggests. I wanted to approach this in a fun and fresh manner, and after your responses to my fanfic rant, I have decided that fanfic will be my new medium for communicating points. Here we go!

--------------------

After cancelling my subscription to the Wizard101 Press, I headed to the library to get my fill of information from Harold Argleston. Upon arriving at the library, I dismounted Mufasa, tied him to the large, stone column, and headed inside. The warm glow of magical lighting and the smell of musty old books filled the air, and I felt at home. Embarking on the journey down the seemingly-endless hallway, I stumbled upon a book that caught my eye. This particular volume was titled "Etiquette for Student Wizards". Thumbing through the volume, I stopped on a page about writing for any publication, especially one for the Spiral Wide Web. It said:

On Personal Details, and Inter-student Communications

Young wizards should not post any personal details for their own protection, nor should they share contact information about any other wizards. This is how students get into sticky situations and find themselves trapped. Also, students should not publicize any issues with other students, especially not on Spiral Networking Sites such as Wandbook, MyDorm, or Owler. Student issues should remain anonymous so as not to spoil anyone else's opinion based on one negative experience, and posting names of questionable students in the Spell-tags of a post is a most grievous offense. All students reading Spiral Wide Web publications are reminded that it is solely the opinion of one student, and not that of everyone. When in doubt, contact the student you have problems with directly, and through private channels. When sharing information, remember to get permission to share personal contact information from the party in question. Again, when in doubt, post a direct Wandlink rather than an Owling address. It is the opinion of...

And the text continued on. Now armed with the information I was seeking about creating and maintaining a Wandsite to be respected, and how to deal with and resolve problems in a private manner, I checked out the volume with Harold Argleston and headed back out to my Lion. Mufasa greeted me happily, using his coarse tongue on my cheek to let me know I was missed, more like a dog than a large cat. I jumped lithely onto the back of my friend and cast my spell to go home.

--------------------

Thanks for stopping by! More fun posts planned for the near future...unless class work gets too hectic :/

John Lifeglen

Times are Strange

Greetings, Wizards of the Spiral!

I know it's been slightly over 1 week since my last post...and I apologize. Things here are getting hectic as I get ready to embark on the journey through college. Packing, unpacking to make mom happy and show her I have everything she requested, then repacking >.<. It's different, but not in a bad way. So for this post I really want to say that I'm not sure how much longer my blog will stay "active", and it's due to the strangeness around me and this new adventure.

No, I'm not leaving...intentionally. I will try my darndest to make time for all of you in game and in the blogosphere, and I won't be quitting Twitter, my posts will just become more sporadic. Maybe college will be good for my blogging as a way to decompress after the day, we'll just have to cross that bridge when we come to it.

Now for something I haven't done before. Answering questions. This is my way to help pick up my blogging slack. Maybe with a little outside motivation waiting in my e-mail inbox I will post more :) My first question was in comment form from Miss Rachel Windtalon. Here it is:

Where did you get your robes in your At Play picture.

That one's easy enough-Youkai in the Tree of Life drops them :) The hat is also a drop by Youkai for those of you wondering. As for the shoes, try Death Oni...though I hear he doesn't drop them lightly and I got them by chance!

One other thing! While I am not ITS (In The Spiral) as often as I once was, I'm still lurking. I have been playing another game to relieve some farming boredom and I have been playing on my fire girl alt: Maria. Last names of alts will not be published until I am ready for everyone to meet them ;).

NEW FEATURE :D

Hey guys! I was playing around with some things on Widgetbox and I found this:

It's kinda like a poll, only better! Just click a picture to select your choice. Yes, this is kind of a weird way to start a new feature, but they are the best pictures I could come up with right now. Expect more of these in the future!

All-Star Meet & Greet Review!

Hello Wizards! The Meet & Greet was last night, and for those of you who had early bedtimes, laggy computers, or just refused to crawl out from under your favorite rock for the night all missed out on something AWESOME!

----------

I rolled out of bed in my comfortable mansion known as Lifeglen Manor to those who have had the privilege of viewing the eccentric collector's valuables. I walked downstairs and opened my door and located the Wizard101 Press sitting on my front steps with the headline Bloggers' Meet & Greet~Fail. I immediately scanned the first page to determine what had caused the grade of "F" given by one "reporter" by the name of Jack Icecaster. Upon reading this, I immediately sent word to the Press that my subscription was ending, and to please remove my name from the mailing list. I ran to my secret lab, grabbed some supplies, and headed back to my room to grab my key ring, and then headed to the memorial terrace to burn a pyre for a lost friend. Upon completing this task I mounted Mufasa, my lion, and headed down the stairs and over the water to my spiral gate. I wedged the Wizard City key into the lock, turned it, and opened the door--then stepping out into Bartleby I felt the warm sun shine down on my face, and I knew that everything would be OK.

----------

I've been considering fanfic for some time, please let me know what you think of the above so I can either pursue it or not. Thanks in advance!

Contrary to the belief of one Jack Icecaster who apparently is "employed" by the Wizard101 Press. Everyone I have spoken to valiantly defies what that article states, and with much better grammar and poise to boot. If this were a real newspaper, I might have to charge them with slander.

The night went very well, even with the port bus not going at the right time due to bugged settings, a near-riot in Golem Court leading to a swift resolution, people discovering the hidden path leading directly into the Watchtower that was meant to be a secret for the VIP guests alone, and some people miraculously breaking into the tower (still trying to figure that one out...). Things were a bit too chaotic for me to take any screenshots, but let me assure you this was one event that you needed to be at! All in all, I don't think I would have done MUCH different.

On the flip side of those mini-fiascoes, everyone who had confirmed for the event showed, as well as many who were unsure! I don't know when the next one will be, but there will most certainly be another. Who knows, I might turn this into a bimonthy event or something...if I can work out the college scheduling. >.< Thank you to all who came, and for the amazing reviews. A HUGE thank you to Heather Emeraldflame for helping me to host this, and for all of the help in planning and dealing with the aftershock. Last but not least, a huge thank you to Cassandra Hexthorn for directing traffic, for patiently waiting for the port bus of doom, and for helping me deal with aftershock.

Wizard101 All-Star Meet & Greet

Hey there spellcasters! John Lifeglen here to let you in on a little secret. The All-Star Meet & Greet is up and running! I'll let the flier speak for itself.

Props to Cassandra Hexthorn for the amazing graphic as I am graphically challenged ;)

Yep, that's right! All kinds of heavy hitters will be there! This party is being hosted at my Watchtower Hall (surprised ya didn't I? Well this party will be to break it in right. It's been constructed for quite some time now, I just wanted to unveil with a bang. Attend the event, see the Watchtower-good deal right?). Port busses will be loading in Golem Court of Unicorn Area One at 8:00 PM CST. The bus will leave promptly at that time. Two more busses will run in 15 minute intervals at 8:15 and 8:30. 8:30 is the final bus of the evening. If you are unable to make the 8:30 bus, please comment on this post as Heather Emeraldflame (our marvelous hostess) is arranging the port bus schedules. We hope to see you when the stars align! Please note, the Bloggers' Club Countdown/Timer also leads to this event. Until the timer triggers, the 1st port bus will not leave.

We hope to see you all there!

Celstia Wallpaper Update! *SQUEE*

WOOHOO Wizards of the Spiral! The Celestia Wallpaper has been updated. This time around it's a Red Gobbler pet and a female from Marleybone. Do I spy steampunk goggles around her neck, possibly? How sweet would Steampunk looks be really? AWESOME! In other news, more shadows have been added that need to be revealed. Oh, and notice the wrench? Maybe our wands will be tools :D.

Enjoy!

Fieldtrip to Hogsmeade: Part Two

At the request of a fan of my blog, I am introducing a second segment to my previous post. Apparently the store fronts were of interest and I failed to post them! So here is another picture post :D. I hope you don't Humongrofrog on the way there as we will be apparating. One, Two, Three, TURN.

-POP-

And here we are! Welcome back to Hogsmeade!

Please respect the spell limits!

Should we drop in on the Three Broomsticks to grab a bite to eat? Maybe some Butterbeer?

Who needs an Olivander's Wand? Just don't get mine!!!

Not a storefront, but in a store window. A Quaffle and Bludger in a case. The other Bludger was moving around too much for me to photograph! And the Snitch was fluttering in the background.

Pranks from Zonko's!

Honeydukes Sweet Shop! This was a simply amazing store :D

A random shop that wasn't accessible, but the windows advertised exotic plants.

And don't worry, I won't make you apparate back to Ravenwood, let's hope a ride on the Scarlet Steam Engine! See ya back in the spiral!

If there is still something you are missing and wish to see, just comment away or talk to me in the spiral. I'll search through my pictures and see if I can do something for ya!

Through the Eyes of a Sorcerer, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter ROCKED.

I GOT A WAND IN REAL LIFE. I write this before even re-entering the spiral, you all should feel privelaged lol. I have returned from my week long vacation in sunny Orlando and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It pretty much rocked out loud. I would love to go into details now but I really can't, as my pictures are sitting on my phone and I cannot find my upload cable :(. Before I could even log in and start the patch I had to repair out internet connection due to the fact that I alone know how to "power cycle" in my house xD. I'll work on uploads tomorrow, lots of pictures for everyone! This post will be edited (or I might decide to just add a new post, who really knows at this point) with pictures and information. This will be my first non-Wizard101 related post EVER and I hope not to make it too much of a habit.

*EDITS*

Let's call this a Fieldtrip from Ravenwood, shall we? A Fieldtrip to Hogsmeade and Hogwarts!

Here are the pictures and details I promised! There was just so much to see and so little time, and I don't want this post to be TOO terribly lengthy so I am limiting myself to around 20 pictures. If I don't post something that you DO want to see, please comment on this post and I'll see what I can do! My pictures of all things Triwizard are on my aunt's camera as my batteries died, so I don't have those...yet. Here we go!

Hogsmeade/Hogwarts directional arrows.

Flags from the 4 houses of Hogwarts, the backdrop for the Triwizard Spirit Rally and the Frog Choir.

The Butterbeer Keg!!!!! Butterbeer was amazing, but WAY sweet. One glass was even tough to get down.

The sweet concoction itself, Butterbeer!!!

The baby Mandrake plants from HP and the Chamber of Secrets.

Oh silly me, you probably wanted HOGWARTS before now!

MY Wand, yes MINE. I didn't get a "Hero" wand like Harry, Hermione, etc. This one is not claimed by a character, so I claim it as John Lifeglen's!

Can YOU say Sorting Hat?

The House Competition point hourglasses. Please note who is in the lead.

We need a sign like this in the commons "Please Respect the Spell Limits".

The Mirror of Erised from HP and the Sorcerer's Stone

The Pensieve from numerous books.

And I will conclude with the following images from Honeydukes and Zonko's. I was a little depressed when I could not purchase Fizzing Wizzbees, but the Chocolate Frogs, U-No-Poo, Acid Pops, Sugar Quills, and Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans made up for it. Also, Extendable Ears :D And in my Chocolate Frog, I got Helga Hufflepuff in trading card form! OK Here come the pictures!

And on that "hoppy" note, We'll conclude the Fieldtrip to Hogwarts. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves! Again, please comment if you want to know any other details or possibly squeeze some other pictures out of me ;).

John Lifeglen

It's Been A While

Wow, I've been out of the Spiral and out of the blogosphere for quite some time! Things have been hectic here, and I don't expect them to slow down any more for quite some time. Let's dive in to the feature for today.

When I say "dive" I mean CELESTIA. And while CL (I told ya so...NOT CS) isn't actually on the Test Realm (again, I told ya so...you know who you are) some, or possibly all of the prequest chain to get to the magical underwater world is ready and waiting! These quests take you all over the spiral and eventually lead you to the "new Briskbreeze" as some people are putting it. The Warehouse is the newest addition to Marleybone, and it is located in Regent's Square! It certainly is no walk in the park, and could very well be harder than Briskbreeze unless...Let's just say some very good friends of mine and I completed this terrible tower of doom without too many problems. All it takes is some strategy and some brain power, along with some keen observations! I wish you all luck with that in the future.

Along with this update we get a new set of quests with Snorri Oysterbloom from Grizzleheim. His quests all take place in the Savarstaad Pass area, and for those of you not familiar with GH, that is the area that players first enter. WOOHOO for more XP for new players!!!

Crafting has also come to GH, and with it comes a couple of awesome new houses. Never fear, Master Artisans, for the crafting is simply extra furniture (mainly of the kitchen persuasion *MUST. GET. IT. ALL.*) and an awesome Watchtower Hall castle. Yep, you heard me right. A house that you must CRAFT. And the recipe is no walk in the park either. This baby forces you to craft the reagents yourselves. And I don't mean Transmute Bloodmoss people. You have to craft furniture to use as reagents. Here's the recipe for those of you daring enough to undertake this colossal achievement.

For those of you who are frightened by crafting of this high level, but still want a GH house, do not fret. A new GH house, the Dragon's Fjord, has come to the crown shop! It has the same storage capabilities as the school housing at a whopping 250 items both inside and out! And for storage to match a school house, a price as well. This baby will cost you 10,000 Crowns or 100,000 Gold. It's up to you.

When buying housing, please remember this: There is a cap on housing, each wizard is only allowed to own 3 castles + their original dorm room. Also, you can no longer sell houses with items inside, you must clean them out before you sell.

Also on the Test Realm this go around, Croaky in Air Dales has a new friend! This friend sells PETS :D Yes good people you heard me, PETS. 2 of the pets from my confirmed but unlocatable list have been removed, and a 3rd, very unexpected pet has come with them. The Brass Golem, Wood Golem, and Cat Thug. Brass Golem looks like Clockwork Golem pet, but looks slightly shinier and more sinister I think. Wood Golem looks exactly like the first floor of Golem Tower. Cat Thug looks just like the Blue Cat Thug pet from Grubb, only it does not have a card with it.

My next video installment will probably be coming soon, and it will be my pet sanctuary. I will be uploading it next (though not intended to be next initially) because I plan to relocate the sanctuary to Watchtower Hall as soon as I manage it...so wish me luck!

Your Friend Always,
John Lifeglen

Busy Schedule + Wizard101 = FAIL.

Times are busy again, *so much for summer being freedom...not when you are embarking on the journey of College the following autumn I suppose* and I have finally found time to make a post! I've decided it is time to show everyone all of my houses, in vibrant video! I haven't ever uploaded video here before so this will be a learning experience for me. Captions will be shown from within the game, so no explanations needed beneath the videos. The Wizard101 Dormitory video follows.

If you have any questions about the items pictured in the above video please don't hesitate to ask! Leave a comment on this post with the question and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Please note, this will be a series of posts, concluding with my favorite house. These videos will not be released over a set period of time, it will be whenever I can find time with my hectic schedule. Thank you for your understanding.

Fun Times and a Party Tonight!

Well wizards, the weekend is over and now it's back to the grind of the week! I literally JUST finished a Kensington run using the "Battleblood Method" as I'm going to call it! We made it out in just over an hour, so it was a pretty good run. No one got a Seraph or Mechanical spider though :( and no one scored any awesome furniture. Oh well, snacks drop all over the place in there so I can feed my pets for a while without too much money being spent!

In other news, my weekend was full! First a wedding, then a wedding dance I had to work. The dance was a good time. Then I had a baptism to attend on Sunday, and then we watched another Harry Potter movie with my aunt and grandma. Oh, and official plans have been made on my vacation present! I'll keep you all in suspense though!

last but nto least, the Bloggers' Club Party is tonight, the countdown will change in only a few short hours to reveal the location of the port bus to the show! It will be a lot of fun for everyone, and some heavy hitters might even show up!

Oh right! Celestia has had another creature revealed on the countdown, so be sure to head over and check it out on the Celestia Countdown page!

It's the Final Foodcart!

Na na na na..na na na na na..na na na na..na na na na na..It's the Final Foodcart-err, countdown...

Long story short, Kensington park holds some AMAZING furniture items ripe for the picking, if you dare enter through its sinister sigils. It really isn't a huge problem now that the golems have slowed down, and with a certain Kevin Battleblood's tactics, the once 3 hour behemoth has been knocked back to roughly 1 hour! Way to go Kevin!!! I was farming with Kevin Battleblood, Heather Emeraldflame, and Fallon Deathslinger (who unfortunately never made it in due to technical difficulty and people porting at the wrong time...) and during our first go I received the Carved Pew.

Ah the Carved Pew, many seek it's wonderfulness, few walk away with it. I consider myself lucky to have received such a rare and amazing furniture drop on my first run of the night. It looks EXACTLY like the seating in Wolfminster Abbey :D And here's a picture of it in the inventory screen:

After the amazing Carved Pew the drops were all clothing, and snacks. Kensington Park really is an astounding place to receive pet snacks! In our second run Fallon said she had just entered a dungeon of her own, so she would no be joining us. Sean Emeraldflame entered instead, and off we went again. Run number 2 brought me the final foodcart :D I had longed for a Yellow Foodcart to complete the set in my mansion for quite some time, and finally I had it! Here's a picture of that, too:

And then, on the 2nd Stoker, I got the drop of Lord Ben, my Seraph. I didn't think that Lord Ben was a very appropriate nickname for a Seraph so I renamed her Lady Cleo. I think Cleo is happy withe me. And here come the screen shots, be ready now, there are a LOT!

/\ Lord Ben drops. /\
\/ I discover Lord Ben to be in a Necromatic Egg O_O \/

/\ Hatched Lady Cleo as seen in backpack mouse-over /\
\/ Lady Cleo in the bank view \/

And last but not least, Lady Cleo at home with her mommy :D I wish all of you the best of luck in your farming endeavors, and now the Seraph will officially be removed from my list! I'm still game to accompany with Kensington runs for the purpose of pet snacks and a Mechanical Spider! And a couple more rare furniture drops. I believe I need to hop to training this beautiful little pet, the faster that goes the faster we can have Seraph information for the Petnome Project! Yes, the contest is over. If you were procrastinating it is too late, but please keep sending in pet information!

See ya in the spiral!

More Maintenance, and Other things

Hello Wizards! First let's get some news from KI:

Wizard101 Extended Maintenance
Wizard101 the game will be offline tonight
from 1am to 6am Central US Time.
During this time, players will be unable to log in to the game, and active players will be prompted to log out.
Our website will also be undergoing maintenance and may have interruptions in service during this downtime. Thank you for your continued patience while we improve the game service for all players.

I wonder what these updates will be? And the website is going down as well. I'm thinking maybe some news on Celestia will be posted, possibly some solid dates, and maybe a bit more as far as teaser art goes. It's all very exciting! In other news, today I scored 4 pets, 2 of which I already had. I got a deathbat, skeletal warrior, green ghost, and red banshee. Kiss the Red Banshee and Skeletal Warrior goodbye from my farming list :D

In other news, E3 2010 is under way and Nintendo seems to have a LOT of fun coming in the next year. Sony seems to have some great new things coming our way too, though I missed the end of the Sony Spotlight on G4. Does anyone know if KI has anything hiding away at E3? It seems like that could REALLY boost the player base even further, and teasers at an event like E3 could start Wizard trending worldwide!

Well, that's about all I've got for this installment, and now I'm going ITS.

Questions and Play Time

Hello wizards of the Spiral! Welcome to another exciting edition of Through the Eyes of a Sorcerer. In this segment we will discuss the welcome back party for Autumn, as well as my play time plans for the coming weeks.

I had to attend a 40th anniversary party for my great aunt and uncle. There was cake, and dancing, and it was a good time overall. Welcome back HIAG, and sorry I missed your party!

In the coming weeks my Saturday evenings are also occupied. It's wedding season in my hometown and the local youth group often sells soda at the wedding dances. I have a dance I'm supposed to work next Saturday and the Saturday after, so things here are a little bit busy. The Saturday AFTER that, while I should be working a dance I will be getting things ready for college this fall, I'll be going through "enrollment procedures" Saturday-Monday.

I apologize for these absences, and there are more to come. Oh the life of a soon-to-be college freshman! >.<

In other news, my aunt is taking me to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter sometime after the 4th of July as a High School Graduation present, so for about a week after the 4th I'll be in sunny Orlando and away from my computer...then again I might opt to take my laptop with me to play in the wee hours of night rather than sleep! Who knows, maybe I'll do that so I can keep up with the community.

Ah well, I have to go watch some HP movies with my aunt to catch her up before we go lol.

Have fun in the Spiral.

FINALLY!

Hello wizards of the Spiral, and welcome to another fascinating installment of Through the Eyes of a Sorcerer. It brings me great pleasure to share some fantastic news with you all!

I finally received my blue banshee from Lord Nightshade. After a week long hiatus from farming that incredibly easy boss he finally dropped what I was after :D Right after I got it I had to log out, but I can't wait until it hatches! Now all I need for my banshee collection is the Red Banshee from Akuji...and the Boss Banshee from Dean Darkflame. That one should be fun to farm for, and I'll be taking requests to join the "hunting" party as I have decided to christen it.

On that note of pet collection, it brings me great joy to inform you that I am now the proud owner of each and every type of my special birthday pet, the Leprechaun! And here's a picture for you all to appreciate how much I love them :D Note that they are on some DS ruins...this is symbolic of a bank that they worked at before the collapse of DS and now they are back where they belong! I apologize for the poor picture, blame the fact that 4 pets at a time is hard to pose without keeping the decorate screen up!

And to wrap up for the night I would like to say thank you to everyone who has kept me farming and farmed with me. I now own 64 pets, and the Lifeglen Pet Habitat is really beginning to thrive! I see so many (64) special and unique pets there, so thank you for helping me to achieve it.

More Maintenance, and my Post

Wizard101 Extended Maintenance
Wizard101 the game will be offline tonight
from 3:00am to 6:00am Central US Time.
Changes will not be made to your characters during this downtime.
During this time, players will be unable to log in to the game, and active players will be prompted to log out.

/\ Official word from KI /\ \/ My thoughts on official word \/

Still, your items will likely not be returned because of the 4th line above. Too bad for those of you who are missing mount :( And now for my actual post.

I was beginning to get burnt out on farming, so I decided today to run around and just enjoy myself again. I was running Tree of Life after Kagemoosha's Citrine Blade (the only balance sword I lack) and I got a lucky drop from Death Oni! I got my little Leprechaun. He should hatch sometime early tomorrow morning. Now all I need is a myth leprechaun to complete my set of 4! :D My birthday is on St. Patrick's Day so the Leprechauns are kind of my special pet, I can't wait to complete the set. The goal of the myth leprchaun really reignited my passion for pet farming. Before I headed out though, I decided to try my hand at the arena now that there is a marvelous lack of Sniper Bolters. Much to my dismay, I seemed to have lost what little skill I had before the Sniper Bolters were dealt with. Oh well, I can work on it some.

Nothing else really happened today, other than getting ALMOST to the secret life tower room only to fall short right above it. I guess I have a challenge for later now. And the Bloggers' Club is continuing to accumulate members, drop me a line to join if you haven't already :D. ( /\LOOK UP/\)

I'm kinda tired so I guess I'll turn in soon.

Pets Pets Pets!

Since the release of the advanced pet system, everyone has been gripped with farming fever! I'm sure most of you knew this already, and for those of you who didn't, which rock have you been calling home recently?

My Pet List to Farm is really a help for me to keep track of what's what and who drops whom. It has been a blessing, and a tool for many people to use. Many users of this page will likely notice the removal of the Myth Treat, War Helephant, and Death Minotaur. The reason behind this is simple, they have not been verified in the game since test went live. If anyone has information pertaining to these pets as drops please let us know! I'm only using information from Central to keep my list and so far those have been removed and marked as HYRBID ONLY more or less.

In other news, my farming has been slowing down and I'm taking time to train pets. Health Gift is an amazing talent that I hope some of your pets manifest! My Talented Piggle is giving me +1 health for ever 2-3 minigames I play, so lets hope this is the same for everyone :D

Last but not least, I am adding another poll to my blog. Do you think the Fizzle rates have seemed to skyrocket since the APS (Advanced Pet System) went live? Let me know what you think! Oh, and coming soon will be a joint presentation of some thoughts for noobs (sorry, it's really a term of endearment-let's go with that-) and how KI can deal with the plague of noobs swarming our farming grounds in the Plaze of Conquests and beyond. The other member of this feature presentation will be announced soon :D

Have fun in the spiral guys, and check back often. Don't forget to vote in the poll located that way -->

Wizard101 Scheduled Maintenance

Wizard101 the game will be offline tonight
from 3:00am to 4:00am Central US Time.
Changes will not be made to your characters during this downtime.
During this time, players will be unable to log in to the game, and active players will be prompted to log out.
This downtime may be extended without notice.

Interesting Stuff

So apparently people's crown gear has gone missing, luckily none of mine has -yet-. Also, some pets have vanished as well :(. Poor little pets, I hope they come back OK but I'm certain KI will resolve this swiftly and efficiently.

Speaking of pets, I got my Mander yesterday! Yes, the one from Kiwu, and he's a cute little green thing. I so wish we could name them Salam Ibn'dur after daddy ^^. Funny, funny stuff. I continue to feel better today so I'm gradually reaching that 100% mark when I can start to play as faithfully as I used to.

And finally, welcome Cassandra Hexthorn and Taryn Ravenheart to the blogging world! They run A Life of Fire and Wizard101-The Business of a Divine Wezl respectively. Be sure to check these two amazing blogs out as I'm sure you will come to love the humor and writing of these amazing wizards.

I need to turn in the for night.

I'm BAAAACCKKKKK

Well, sort of. I'm still not feeling quite 100% but I'm slowly but surely getting better. Today I update this blog with wonderful news! 2 of the "unknown" (??) pets from the Pet Farming List have had locations added to their names :D. Thanks you to the community members who have made these amazing discoveries. The Mander pet has been dropped now from Kiwu and the Inferno Mander drops from Ngozi the beguiler *-.-" * EPIC FAIL for those of you who hate the Tomb of the Beguiler as much as me.

Sorry to cut this post short like the last one, but I've got some farming to do!

With Celestia Comes Apology

Hello wizards of the spiral. I apologize for this being a less than wonderful post, but I've been a tad under the weather. The only news for today is this: Check out the Countdown to Celestia page for more information, as well as the latest character reveal-a huge shark. Friend or Foe? Well, happy trails wizards, and goodnight :)

Bloggers' Club Party Review

SO the FIRST EVER Bloggers' Club event took place lastnight as a way to kinda pre-game for Ravenwood Radio! It was kinda a flop to begin with but then we had some great people show up. (Again...silly me forgetting the screenshots in all of the excitement >.<) Anyway, I'd love to make this post my rambling list of friends who decided to drop by but I'm working on the whole "rambling" bit...and there I go again.

It didn't all go in the fashion of sunshine and daisies though, and to say it went without a hitch would just be lying to you. Our wonderful host Edward was having some, err, connection problems caused by inclement weather and didn't make it on until later in the evening, and even then he ported to say hello and vanished mysteriously again. Most of the Bloggers' Club members made it over, and we had a good time all in all. Goodness, even a certain Thomas Lionblood and the beautiful and charming Bailey Skystaff made an appearance!

Ya, you heard me...the Friendlies even showed up. Hmm...I think the Friendlies are from Percy Jackson and the Olympians...nvm, that's the Kindly Ones. ANYWAY everyone started to pile on poor Thomas so I whispered to Bailey "port to me in a second" and then ran off to my spider pen. I let Bailey port in when it was safe to do so and then Thomas made it into the new...uh...I think I called it a VIP Protection Box last night. I should be considering renovations to add a box to all of my current houses and still maintain the overall themes, that would make future entertaining events more easily ready for the famous community members we need to protect.

We all moved over to Kymma's (that's Kestrel's alt if you didn't know) house later, it was GREAT. A rug High-dive to the pool and then a rug path to the roof of her house, it was amazing. I found a great little bug where you can drop off of the roof, run a little ways, and end up on the ramp. This was a Krokotopian mansion btw. And then we headed off to Ravenwood Radio. Excellent show last night. Myth Study Hall was fantastic lastnight with Lisa Jonte from A Mythspent Youth. That's an excellent blog to visit for games to play and interesting insight to our wonderful game. The after party was fun too, Nightside certainly was hoppin'. Quite a few heavy hitters were there. Sometimes I feel sorry for them, seeing as they get dog piled everywhere they go :( Oh well! Nothing I can do about it. And now I'm logging in.

The Craziest Day EVER in Wizard101

Hello fellow wizards, this is John Lifeglen with an impressive story of magnificently magical confusion. It all began when Chris asked me to help him get the stone roses in the Crown of Fire and the Labyrinth...we still have yet to get the Labyrinth one as he had to leave upon finishing Malistaire. Then my old friend Emily Firehorn shows up in game after an extended absence. I unfortunately couldn't stay long, and when I returned she was gone. Then the actual "weirdness" began.

It all began when I finally decided to go farming for the infamous Crabling. I tried to port to Donna Spellthorn who mentioned she was farming there, but her ports were closed. I finally tried porting to Taryn Ravenheart, a close friend who does not blog but is very fun to be around. When I ported to Taryn I thought I clicked the wrong person as I landed in the 4th slot of the battle, as Taryn usually farms alone. Come to relize that I was in battle with Donna Spellthorn, Taryn, and Cody Shadowstrider.

As weird as it was to port to 1 friend and see 2 others that don't know the 1st, things can get weirder. As I stepped outside I ran into the one and only Mary Dreamshade. Donna left for a while and Isaac Mistheart dropped in which made for an interesting time. Pretty soon Taryn dropped out and Donna came back in. No one got the Crabling >.< I went back to farming with Taryn when she got back, and we both went to sell drops. I ran back to the Crazed Forest Spirit only to find Fallon Shadowblade on her alt, Autumn Drake. Autumn introduced herself to Chris and I and she went in to farm for another crab.

So things are all weird so far, it gets better. Taryn got a Crabling and did the *Cheer* emote and then I said "Crabgratulations" -yes Crabgratulations is my word, it has been trademarked, you cannot use it- and when I stepped outside I saw Cassandra Griffindreamer and then Donna whispered to me about Uber Wife being on! Well I ported and met the wonderful Bailey Skystaff for the first time and saw Cassandra Griffindreamer had ported to Donna as well and we had a short chat. Samantha Drake's alt, Iridian, was there, too.

Then I headed back to MooShu to try for the crabling again and when I approached it was none other than one half of the Comedy Theurgists team, Marissa Petal. Chris ran back up behind us then.

Then I started farming with Taryn yet again and who ports in but my old friend Keira Lionheart! She had told me a couple months ago she wouldn't be on for about a year...little did I know that means school year. It was a fantastic surprise. Keira snagged a Crabling on her 3rd or 4th go.

Emily showed up again later on too, and we farmed and farmed and farmed. I still didn't get that darn Crabling...but Keira ported in and got another. Then Marissa ported to me and we fought the darn spirit more. And at 9:38, my Crabling Rocco was brought into the world!

All in all, yesterday was a WEIRD day. I'm wondering who I'll run into next and if any other old friends will reappear.

Of Colossi and Clockworks

Good morning fellow wizards! I figure I'll post this before I even get into the game today to save some time later on lol. I'm going to talk about the Kensington run a bit and also the newest pet to my collection. This title sorta gives it away...

Lastnight the Kensington run was a flop. Aside from getting 9 snacks of varying level it was sort of a waste of time, but my amazing friend Maria Moonblossom and I still had a LOAD of fun :D Right after defeating Ratchet I took the time to read what Gyro had to say and I busted up laughing at this, "Spiders, spiders everywhere! And all they do is clink!" Sorry Maria, I like this shorter title better, but I still posted our quote! We finally made it to Stoker only to be disappointed in that battle but we carried on hoping to get the Mechanical Spider drop from our 2nd go. That failed to lol. All throughout the lair I was calling out "GO PIKACHU!" and various other Pokemon, trying to remember what was good against what. Maria and I tried throwing a Master Ball at the little spiders but they evaded...that's about when I decided we needed a GRANDMASTER BALL :D Let me know what you think of that one lol!

After our failure there we filled up our potions and sold our loot, and then headed for Nidavellir. There are so many pets running around that place it's not even funny. We decided to, ahem, shortcut the Hall of Valor and only hit the 3 battles we needs. First battle I snagged my Silver Colossus from the Runed Devestator! That was a pretty cool thing, and it should have hatched by now. Then we headed off to Lokar and then the Jotun battle. Edward was with us for Lokar and Jotun, and he snagged the Life Bat from Grettir in the Jotun fight. All in all, it was a pretty good night. Now I just need to farm that Crabling that everyone is after. Eh, maybe I'll take the time everyone else is away to go after my Ianthine Spectre instead.

Happy Farming and Happy Trails!

Your Friend Always,
John Lifeglen

W101 Bloggers' Club Taking Off!

Hellooooooo Spiral fans, how are you all?

I have some excellent news for you all, Malorn Willowsmith called a Bloggers' Meeting earlier today and that led to an expansion of the Bloggers' Club. If anyone was at the meeting and needs the buttons please e-mail me HERE. If you missed the meeting and would like to join also click there.

Bloggers' Club is going ot be a ton of fun. I'm already thinking about the potential for a pet farming event, and I think someone had mentioned a magic show with a certain rat magician! Things are really shaping up well. Submissions for future event host can be sent to my Twitter account via DM or e-mailed through the link up there.

Everyone at the meeting was great today and I myself had a lot of fun. I would love to mention everyone but I don't think I can remember who all was there, and being new to this I have yet to remember to "click" first and ask questions later lol. No screenshots for this one!

Finally, I would like to remind everyone to keep an eye on the Countdown at the top. Location will not be given until then, and asking a member won't do you any good because they don't even know :p. This will not be another Ravenwood Ball where no one can get to the realm or area lol. That was a lot of fun too though!

I hope to see you all Wednesday, as that is when the countdown leads to if you haven't figured that out yet. Later :D

Your Friend Always,
John Lifeglen

PS. A friend and I are running Kensington and it looks like those evil clockworks have been slowed down as well! This should make Kensington a much easier farm. Let me know what you think about this change. I will be posting a poll on the side soon.

New Pets

Greetings fellow wizards! John Lifeglen here with the first real post since getting my new router :D. Right after getting the new router up and running I managed to snag a Storm Serpent from Clanker. That's right guys, Storm Serpent has been dropped from the Pets to Farm list. Unfortunately, aside from the Myth Sprite from Rattlebones, that is the only new pet I have received.

I've farmed and farmed and farmed and got nothing. I was farming with Edward at Boris Blackrock for the Fire Serpent and guess who got it...not me! Edward got one though so it wasn't a total waste of time :)

Then we headed off to the Coven with Heather Emeraldflame and Edward and Edward's friend Connor. That was a lot of fun and that's what I'm doing right now. Heather got lucky and managed to get the Silverback Wildclaw on her first go today...I have no idea how many she has now lol. She commented she could start a farm with them though!

Well, I'm gonna head back to farming. Keep it real guys and have fun!

Your Friend Always,
John Lifeglen

PS. Please continue to check back for the countdown. As soon as the clock strikes zeros the location and name of the host will appear. Unlike in the future, this Bloggers' Club party will be open to the public.

Also, if you're interested in the Bloggers' Club drop me a line so that I can send you the kit and guidelines. Guidelines can also be found on the W101 Bloggers' Club HQ page of this blog.

More Internet Problems

The minor problems I began facing a couple weeks ago have escalated to the point that I can no longer use my laptop for internet activities such as Wizard101, Blogger, or Twitter just to name a few that I frequent. For you all, this has no repercussions except that I'll be offline for longer than originally anticipated.

As it turns out, dad called tech support this morning and got a code for me to tell them for the sole purpose of information disclosure [due in part to me being the technologically gifted person in my house...how will they survive with me at college next year *worries and forsees hammers flying at a computer screen*] so that I may try and work out the bugs with our connection while dad is at work. Darn disclosure acts...makes working things out without the actual person bound by a contract handy VERY difficult. Long story short, using this code they basically told me it wasn't on their end, it must be a problem with our wireless router [that I happened to receive for Christmas with my laptop this past year -urghhhhhh- great it's all my fault now...] and that we need to disconnect [scream silently in my head NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO this can't be happening!!! What about my party on Wednesday /\ (Look Up) /\ ] it. This kills my laptop's internet capabilities but I can still use the home computer...sort of. It crashes all the time-especially trying to play online games...-and it hasn't had Wizard101 patched since Christmas.

Well, guess what I'm doing NOW. I'm patching this dinosaur in the basement and hoping that something will give before Wednesday June 2nd so that I can play for the party. As I type this I am plotting ways to get dad to purchase a new router before that time so that I can fix the connection and pray for a miracle. Don't look for me much in the game, all I'll be doing is training pets most likely.

Your Friend Always,
John Lifeglen
